The first claim of every calendar year will be pended for other insurance information. A simple phone call to the number on the back of your ID card will prevent this claim from being stopped. You must provide this update every year, whether you have other insurance or not. You can also complete this information for you and your family members on www.myuhc.com. Student Status - United Healthcare verifies full time student status twice a year. The first semester covers the period of January through June, and the second semester is considered July through December. Once again you can avoid these claims from being pended by calling this information into United Healthcare. They will tell you if they need this information in writing. Risk Management/Worker’s Compensation for heart bill related events - If you are an active officer and have a heart related incident you need to file a notice of injury form with Risk Management. At that time you may be provided with cardiologists to use from the Corvel network. By contacting Steven Shoaff directly at Gallagher-Bassett (954.846.1331 x268) you will receive a complete listing of current doctors for YOU to choose from. Review your Explanation of Benefits (EOB’s) – It is very important to you and our plan costs to make sure that we are billed for services that have actually been performed. Too often mistakes are made by billing clerks. The only way we can verify that we are paying for valid services is by YOU reviewing your statements from United Healthcare. Erroneous billing errors will drive up your costs!! On the other hand, if you do not read your statements from United, and they have pended a claim for additional information – it will go unpaid!!! Dental Plan (Options PPO) – Just a reminder that our Dental plan is a fully insured plan with United Healthcare. High utilization by non-network dentists drives up our plan costs and YOUR premiums. We have reduced benefits for out-of-network dentists. You can visit www.myuhcdental.com and search for dentists in-network, in addition to viewing your benefit and claims information by registering on this site. Pharmacy changes to your plan were made by United Healthcare effective May 1, 2005. These changes reduced costs to our plan and the drug costs you pay. The majority of changes were positive (e.g. Allegra went from tier 3 (highest cost to you and our plan), to tier 2 (lower cost). Some diabetic supplies moved to tier 1 (generic). There were two drugs that were removed from the pharmacy program, alternatives were sent in a letter to a very few members that were affected (e.g. Clarinex no longer covered), but there are alternatives in another lower cost tier, in addition to over the counter products. Are you getting the most from your health benefits? You can get all the details of your health plan on-line from United Healthcare at www.myuhc.com. There's a Physician Directory, customized with a listing of your in-network physicians, a Claims Center with all of your United Healthcare history, and an overview of your coverage and costs. Everything you need to easily control your health plan benefits. To help you make the best health care decisions, the site offers tools to assess your health, calculators to predict expenses and reader-friendly medical information in plain English, from reliable resources.
